What it is

Solar that works together with the grid

An On-Grid (grid-tied) system has solar panels and an on-grid inverter, and stays connected to the electricity grid. During the day it makes power for your home or shop. Extra power goes to the grid through a net meter, and at night you take power back from the grid.

There is no battery, so the cost is lower and maintenance is minimal. About 9 in 10 of our home customers choose this system.

Benefits

Why people choose On-Grid

Lowest bill

Net metering can bring a home bill close to zero in a well-sized plant.

No battery cost

No battery to buy or replace every few years, so the total cost stays low.

Scheme benefit for homes

Eligible homes can apply under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. We help with the application.

Very low upkeep

Wash the panels now and then. The inverter runs on its own and shows daily generation on an app.

How it works

From sunlight to a lower bill

  1. 1

    Panels make DC power

TopCon 615W+ panels turn sunlight into DC electricity.

  2. 2

    Inverter converts to AC

The on-grid inverter makes AC power that matches the grid.

  3. 3

    Your home uses it first

Fans, lights and appliances run on solar during the day.

  4. 4

    Extra goes to the grid

The net meter counts what you send and what you take. You pay only for the difference.

Is it right for you?

Good fit and not a good fit

Good fit

  • Homes, shops and offices that use power mostly in the daytime
  • Anyone who wants the lowest cost and the quickest payback
  • Places with a stable grid connection

Not the best fit

  • Places that need power during every cut (choose Hybrid)
  • Villages and farms with no grid (choose Off-Grid)
  • Shaded roofs with no clear space for panels
Questions

On-Grid questions

?Will it work when the power goes off?

No. For safety an on-grid system switches off when the grid is off. If you need backup, a Hybrid system with a battery is the right choice.

?How much roof space do I need?

About 65 sq ft for every 1 kW. A 5 kW plant needs roughly 325 sq ft of shadow-free space.

?How long does installation take?

Installation of a home plant is usually done in a few days. Net meter approval from the electricity department takes extra time.
